Empowering Student Leaders

Kingston, Jamaica – May 7, 2024 – The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) recently hosted a transformative leadership development experience for 120 student union leaders. The Transforming Leadership & Governance Seminar (TLG Seminar), held from May 4-7, 2024, equipped participants with essential skills and knowledge to excel in leadership roles.

Facilitated by an esteemed team of experts, including Carrol and Dirk Richards, Deborah Johnson, Stephen Adu-Amoani, and Victor Koh, the seminar focused on the 12 Cs leadership framework. This comprehensive approach covered critical aspects of effective leadership, fostering a deeper understanding of strategic decision-making, collaboration, and communication.

The seminar’s impact was amplified by meaningful interactions with UTech administrators. A special lunch gathering brought together Registrar Mrs. Marion Brown, Assistant Registrar for Student Affairs Mrs. Dorsett Pottinger, and the facilitation team, promoting dialogue and insight-sharing.

The culmination of the TLG Seminar was a graduation ceremony, where the student leaders received certification in the 12 Cs leadership framework. This milestone marked a significant step forward in developing the next generation of leaders at UTech.
